Kelly Puckett moved to Dallas 5 years ago from Memphis, TN, where she began dancing at the age of 15. She trained primarily at a Fred Astaire franchised dance studio, and then joined the Salsa Memphis studio dance team, where she briefly competed with a salsa partner. Upon moving to college, she trained to become a professional dance instructor at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Birmingham, AL. There, she competed professionally in the American Rhythm category, placing in regional Fred Astaire competitions.
Upon graduating college, she taught at Blue Suede Ballroom Dance Studio in Memphis from 2010-2014. Kelly has taught basic through advanced students in private and group classes, as well as prepared students for dance shows and competitions. She primarily teaches American Smooth and Rhythm, including Cha-cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Mambo, Bolero, Foxtrot, Waltz, Viennese Waltz, and Tango. She also teaches Salsa, Merengue, Samba, and a little Hustle when she gets the chance! Now in Texas, she is making sure to learn the Two-Step as well!
Kelly loves to teach dance because she knows first-hand that it gives people confidence, brings joy, and motivates people to stay healthy. After a four year break from teaching, she is looking forward to giving lessons at Image Ballroom Dance Academy!
